One More Entry

Those two pictures I showed you last that I entered for the Pioneer Woman's contest did get chosen as finalists so yay! I wish I'd gotten one of the top spots because I would've won a gift card and hello that would be fantastic! :D I did enter one more that I thought was really fun but I think I entered it too late in the contest for people to really notice it. :)

Week 39

This week's theme is: Man vs. Nature

I was having the hardest time coming up with something, my first idea was to take a picture of this playground by the ocean we've been helping build this last week. Then I was going through some flickr groups on "levitation" photography and decided I would give it a try myself:

MCP Project 52
"No matter how much I want to hold on to Summer, Fall is coming to sweep me away..."

(I can't tell you how ridiculously hard it was to get a good shot. If I had a helper to press the button for me that would have been so awesome, instead I had to set the timer, run to the spot, try and position myself on a chair in time to make the shot. My neck was killing me when I finally gave up. Also I fell out of the chair three or four times. I looked completely ridiculous. It was pretty great.) :)

Also, I LOVE the Pioneer Woman, and I like to enter her photography contest even though I NEVER even get looked at :), this contest is an editing contest though. Where she provides the picture, and you get to edit it however you want. This is her original picture:

And here's the two edits I did on it:

I had so much fun coming up with the ideas and photoshopping, I don't often photo shop that much anymore so it was really fun to mess around with it. :)

Week 38

This week's theme is: The Eyes Have It

I guess I get the theme, but I feel like there's just going to be a billion pictures of people's faces up close on their eyes. So although I'm criticizing it, I couldn't come up with anything better. :) Here's the picture I took this week:

Week 37

This week's theme is: Momentous Moments

I originally thought of doing a picture of the kids running at their dad as he stepped in the door from work, he's in the military so I thought it would be really touching with his uniform and everything. Then we went to the fair on Monday and I thought, oh man the fair is such a big deal every year! Plus I've been wanting to take pictures of fair rides and such anyway. THEN as we're walking around the fair, we get to the pig pen and we see the cutest teeniest tiny piglets ever. They tell us they had just been born a few hours before! So I decided to add that, because whats more momentous than birth?! :)

MCP Project 52

This is the other one I was debating over:

MCP Project 52

Then yesterday my one year old son decided to head butt me in the eye and then throw a book at the same spot, so I thought "another momentous moment: my first black eye!!" haha

Besides liking the others better, this kind of looks like a battered wife poster and thats not quite what I was going for, so I decided against adding this one! haha My eye really isn't that bad, I did a lot of photoshopping to make the bruise darker. I suppose it could possibly look like that in a couple days when the bruises settle!

Week 36

This week's theme is: Thirst for Knowledge

I've been seeing some people's photo streams where they do a self portrait every day, they're so creative and beautiful, its inspiring to me because I do not like doing self portraits and I find them very difficult to get! I came up with this idea and thought it turned out pretty close to what I'd been picturing!

MCP Project 52- Thirst for Knowledge

Maybe I'll try more often to do self portraits, its always good to try something new! :)

Week 35

This week's theme is: Lazy

I thought I would do a "lazy day of summer" picture, since school started this week. We went to the beach on Monday as our kind of last hurrah, it was perfect!
